Caddo Riverloon111_stat.jpg (20339 bytes)

caddoriver3.jpg (268867 bytes)    Canoeing and Kayaking is very popular on the Caddo river.   There are several rental services available in Glenwood.  The river begins in the Ouachita Mountains near Mena, Arkansas until it reaches Degray Lake, just North of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

caddoriver2.jpg (345707 bytes)    There are two popular float trips.  The first, starts from the Narrows at Caddo Gap,  and alternates between short placid pools, challenging rapids, and a few short falls. The second, a little less popular, is from Glenwood to 182 Bridge.  It is feasible to continue to Amity Landing, though this stretch is full of long, tiring, calm water. Whatever the decision,  be safe, and take your Life Jacket, preferably WEAR it. Also,  a good idea in cooler weather are extra clothing, rain gear, a first aid kit, and other such items.
